SUMMARY
The Vice President of Strategic Initiatives & Project Management serves as a senior leader responsible for overseeing the planning, coordination, and execution of the Albany Dougherty County Economic Development Commission’s major initiatives. This includes business recruitment and retention efforts, product development, workforce initiatives, marketing campaigns, strategic planning priorities, infrastructure coordination, and special projects identified by the Board or President & CEO.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee and manage all major organizational initiatives, ensuring alignment with the strategic plan.
- Develop project scopes, timelines, budgets, and measurable outcomes.
- Implement internal systems to track progress across initiatives.
- Identify risks, challenges, and resource gaps, and proactively develop solutions.
- Ensure initiatives are executed on time and within established parameters.
- Assist the President with coordinating business recruitment, expansion, and retention activities.
- Manage RFI responses, prospect visits, and due diligence processes as part of the broader economic development strategy
- Lead efforts related to site readiness, infrastructure coordination, and product development.
- Support the development of industrial sites, commercial properties, and redevelopment initiatives.
- Coordinate with engineering, utilities, planning departments, and external consultants as needed.
- Coordinate workforce development initiatives with educational institutions and training providers.
- Facilitate collaboration among public, private, and nonprofit stakeholders.
- Serve as a key liaison between the organization and strategic partners.
- Supervise staff or consultants assigned to initiatives.
- Prepare reports and presentations for the Board of Directors and community stakeholders.
- Represent the organization at meetings, events, and strategic discussions.
- Assist in annual planning and budget development processes.
- Serve in a leadership capacity in the President’s absence, as appropriate.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Works with staff to achieve ADEDC goals and objectives outlined through the strategic plan.
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in business, public administration, economic development, finance, planning, or related field. (Master’s Preferred) Candidates should have 5+ years in economic development, public administration, project management, or related field.
- Strong understanding of economic development strategy, incentives, and community development processes.
- Advanced organizational and project management capabilities
- Ability to develop and manage budgets.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Political and community awareness.
- High level of professionalism and discretion.
REQUISITE SKILLS
Candidates must have extensive experience managing complex initiatives simultaneously, working in collaborative environments, and demonstrating strong Interpersonal skills and client relations. Preferred candidates will have experience with a strong understanding of economic development strategy, incentives, and community development processes as well as demonstrate the ability to be proactive, self-motivated, and require little oversight. Elevated organization, good judgment, punctuality, initiative, strong work ethic, the ability to anticipate and solve practical problems, and requisite managerial skills. Use of Microsoft Office 365 is required.

Primary work environment: ambient room temperatures, lighting, and office equipment as found in a typical office environment.
