Investment will add 55,000 square feet and 20 jobs

Toyotetsu America Inc. (TTAI), a leading automotive parts manufacturer and long-standing community partner, celebrated the beginning of a major facility expansion in September with a groundbreaking at its Valley Oak Commerce Complex plant.

This marks the company’s 14th expansion since opening in Pulaski County three decades ago.

The project represents a $15 million investment that will add 55,000 square feet to the existing facility, creating 20 new jobs. The additional space will support the installation of new equipment in preparation for future vehicle model launches, significantly enhancing production capabilities and positioning TTAI for continued growth.

“As we celebrate 30 years in Somerset, we are proud to announce our 14th expansion since 1996, bringing our facility to over 850,000 square feet,” TTAI President Donnie Slagle said. “This $15 million investment will add about 20 new jobs and prepare us to support future vehicle programs, ensuring long-term job security for our team members and our community. We are grateful for the support of our community and look forward to building on our three decades of partnership.”

Pulaski County leaders praised the expansion as a sign of TTAI’s continued confidence in the region.

“We are excited to see TTAI continue to grow here in Pulaski County with this major expansion of their facility,” Pulaski County Judge Executive Marshall Todd said. “The addition of approximately 55,000 square feet not only strengthens TTAI’s production capabilities but also signals its long-term commitment to investing in our community. This multi-million-dollar project is more than just an expansion of a factory — it’s an expansion of opportunity. With the creation of 20 new jobs, our residents will benefit from stable, good-paying employment, and our local economy will be further energized.”

“TTAI has been a cornerstone of our community for decades, and its commitment to growth and innovation continues to make an incredible impact,” Somerset Mayor Alan Keck said. “This expansion not only creates new jobs, but it also strengthens Somerset-Pulaski County’s position as a manufacturing leader in our region. We are grateful for TTAI’s investment, their partnership, and the many ways they contribute to the vitality of our economy and community.”

SPEDA President and CEO Chris Girdler emphasized the importance of TTAI’s investment for both the Valley Oak Commerce Complex and the greater community.

“The progress in Somerset-Pulaski County continues and we are excited to see Valley Oak Commerce Complex grow and thrive,” Girdler said. “TTAI recently celebrated its 30th anniversary in Pulaski County. We are honored that this manufacturing leader continues to invest in Somerset-Pulaski County and its people. TTAI is a valued part of our community and does so much good for so many.”

TTAI is the largest and first Toyotetsu plant in North America, and is the anchor tenant of Valley Oak Commerce Complex on Ky. 461, a growing industrial park in eastern Pulaski County. Its 13 tenants include manufacturers, a large-scale indoor greenhouse and educational facilities, as well as a new housing complex including single-family homes and apartments and a childcare facility for employees in the area opening soon.
