About the Coweta County Development Authority
The Coweta County Development Authority's mission is to promote economic prosperity through the strategic attraction, retention, and expansion of capital investment and primary jobs. Its vision is to shape Coweta County's economic future.
The Authority serves as a central point of contact for economic development activity and works with Coweta County government, municipalities, state agencies, utilities, education and workforce partners, private landowners, developers, existing employers, and prospective businesses.
The Opportunity
The President serves as the Authority's chief executive and principal economic development officer, leading the Authority's countywide strategy, programs, personnel, partnerships, and operations under the Board's direction.
The President will supervise one Project Manager, establish a clear organizational vision, and remain actively involved in projects, employer outreach, relationship management, and community engagement.
Coweta County's continued growth requires a balanced approach to economic opportunity, infrastructure, fiscal sustainability, land use, and quality of life. The successful executive must build consensus, address community concerns, maintain momentum, and advocate effectively while preserving key relationships.
Ideal Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate is an accomplished, relationship-centered executive who combines strategic vision with disciplined execution. The Authority is particularly interested in candidates with:
- Demonstrated economic development, business, or organizational results.
- Experience managing complex public-private projects.
- Strong political awareness, judgment, and credibility.
- Knowledge of recruitment, expansion, sites, incentives, and workforce.
- Excellent project management, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Experience in a rapidly growing county, metropolitan-edge community, or similarly complex environment.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline.
- Significant progressive experience in economic development or related fields.
- Equivalent education and executive experience may be considered.
- Economic development organization leadership experience is preferred.
- Public-private, government, utility, or regional leadership experience qualifies.
- Georgia economic development knowledge and relationships are desirable.
- Other candidates must demonstrate rapid network-building success.
