(Vero Beach, FL) –September 9, 2025 – Vero Beach Regional Airport (VRB) is proud to
announce that American Airlines will begin nonstop service from Vero Beach to Charlotte, North
Carolina on February 12, 2026. This major milestone serving the community enhances air
connectivity for Treasure Coast communities, serving as a catalyst for regional development.
“We are excited to welcome American Airlines new service to North Carolina,” said Todd Scher,

but also enhances business and leisure opportunities between Vero Beach and one of the

A Boost for Tourism and Local Economies
Tourism is a major economic engine for Florida. In Indian River County alone, tourism
generated an estimated $712.8 million in economic impact in 2023, according to the Indian
River Chamber of Commerce. These figures underscore how important air service is to
sustaining and growing tourism, a sector that benefits hotels, dining, cultural attractions, retail
outlets, and small businesses throughout the Treasure Coast.
“This new service will strengthen our economy by creating easier access for visitors, business
leaders, and potential investors,” said Mark Litten, Vice President of Economic Development at
Indian River Chamber of Commerce. “American Airlines presence in Vero Beach highlights the
growth and vitality of our community, and it will help us showcase all that the Treasure Coast
has to offer.”

Regional Growth and Community Benefits
New routes stimulate economic opportunity beyond just visitor dollars. They drive employment
across sectors, from airport operations and hospitality to professional services and logistics. The
presence of American Airlines reinforces Vero Beach’s credentials as a thriving regional hub to
attract further investment.
“We’re not just launching new service,” Scher emphasized. “We’re showcasing Vero Beach’s
trajectory as a competitive, connected, and thriving, community. Improved connectivity ensures
that our local businesses, residents, and tourism ecosystem remain resilient and prosperous.”
What This Means for Vero Beach and the Treasure Coast:

  • Enhanced Accessibility: Direct flights to North Carolina open new opportunities for
residents, tourists, and businesses alike, bridging communities and expanding access to
    broader domestic and international networks.
  • Tourism Growth: With easier access, Treasure Coast destinations stand to attract more
overnight visitors, positively affecting lodging, dining, and attractions.
