Overview. The Chason Group, Inc. has been
retained to conduct an executive search for a
professional to serve as President and CEO of the
Development Authority of Elbert County, Elberton
and Bowman, located in northeast Georgia. Tim
Chason and Randy Cardoza are the key contacts for
the executive search.

About Development Authority. The authority has
recently been reorganized and refocused by local
government and business community leaders. The
Elbert County Board of Commissioners, City of
Elberton and City of Bowman are financial investors
in the authority. There are seven board members
appointed by the local governments. The offices of
the Development Authority are located on the
Elberton Campus of Athens Technical College.

About the Position. The President and Chief
Executive Officer is responsible for pursuing
commercial and industrial development for Elbert
County, including Elberton and Bowman. This
position is also accountable for oversight and
administration of the community’s economic
development initiatives.

Additional key responsibilities include cultivating
and maintaining an economic development
strategy; oversight of properties owned by the
Development Authority; and fiscal accountability
and administration of the organization. The
professional will serve as the authority’s leader to
prepare and market Elbert County for economic
development projects considering a potential
location to create new jobs and increase the
community’s tax base.

In addition to new growth, the President is
responsible for maintaining relationships with
existing companies to keep current investments in
the area and retain existing jobs. The President will
serve at the pleasure of the Board of Directors.
Qualification Summary. Candidates applying for
the position should possess a Bachelor’s degree,
ideally with an MBA or other post-graduate work,
from an accredited college; or equivalent
experience in real estate management, business,
marketing, finance, and/or economic development.
Applicants should also have a minimum of two
years of strategic leadership experience and
new/expanding project management in the
economic development field; successful track
record of growing the tax base of a community,
region or state through innovative marketing and
job creation strategies.

Key Skill Sets. Communication skills in the areas of
listening, verbal, written and digital are extremely
important for the position. The Development
Authority is also seeking an individual who has
excellent collaboration and relationship building
