President - Tipton County Community Development Council (TCCD)
The duties of this job involve managing and directing the day-to-day functions of the economic and community development activities of the Tipton County Community Development Council, a collaboration between Tipton County and the City of Covington governments.
Responsibilities of the position include all staffing, strategic planning, budgeting, and program execution for the recruitment of new industrial, residential and retail developments in the county.
The President will work with our community development partners to engage the leadership of our existing industrial companies to build strong relationships and to ensure that our current employers are getting the assistance they need regarding workforce training, utilities, and financial and community engagement. The goal is to ensure the retention of current employees and the expansion of their operation in Tipton County when those opportunities arise.
In addition, this position is responsible for marketing Covington/Tipton County as an exceptional place to live, learn and invest to regional and national audience including national site selection companies.
Essential Functions
- Manage the flow of industrial, residential and retail projects considering Covington/Tipton County for expansion or potential new operations or relocations.
- Budget for the various programs and initiatives approved by the TCCD board of directors.
- Conduct strategic planning.
- Interface with local private sector leadership and elected officials on various issues affecting economic and community development in the Tipton County region.
- Compile and frequently update our repository of statistical information with community demographics, workforce wages and availability, utility capacities and costs, existing industry wage and benefit information, pertinent information on available development properties.
- Create related collateral materials to use in the overall marketing and recruitment of new development and jobs to the county and frequently update the TiptonPerfect website.
- Interface with various media organizations to promote Tipton County as the best place to live, learn and invest in the region.
- Serve on various local, regional and statewide economic development boards and commissions.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or related field.
- Minimum of five years’ experience managing a major economic development organization
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills; ability to interact effectively with external contacts such as political and corporate leaders
- Computer literate, high level of accuracy, detail oriented
- Strong analytical, problem solving, and negotiation skills
- Knowledge of budgeting process
- Ability to plan, organize, and manage multiple priorities
- Technical skills in strategic planning and marketing, business and market development, market research and planning, and promotions/advertising
