Hudson Industries to expand in Missouri, investing more than $1.7 million and creating 7 new jobs
Hudson Industries, DBA Green’s Welding and Sales (GWS), a manufacturer of livestock feeding and handling equipment, announced today that it will expand in Appleton City, investing more than $1.7 million and creating 7 new jobs. The company’s expansion includes the addition of an 18,900-square-foot production area that will nearly double its production.
“It’s always exciting to see Missouri-made businesses like Green’s Welding and Sales growing in their communities,” said Governor Mike Kehoe. “As a cattle rancher and proud GWS customer myself, I can personally attest to this company’s commitment to quality and integrity. We congratulate GWS on its success and appreciate its contributions to both Appleton City and our state’s agricultural industry.”
Founded in 1983, GWS manufactures a variety of livestock feeding and handling equipment including bulk feed bins, creep feeders, UTV feeders, feed bunks, portable panels, chutes, bale rings, and bale movers. The company began in a rented two-car garage with a portable welder used for repairs and special projects. After undergoing several changes, GWS has grown to operate a nearly 52,000-square-foot manufacturing plant. The company is still owned and operated by Chris and Karen Green.
“The project is to expand production to meet the growing demand for GWS livestock equipment,” said Chris Green, Owner of Hudson Industries. “In doing so, the focus is to provide better working conditions to keep and attract quality employees. We want employees that take pride in their work. This project will not only continue to promote our guiding principle of ‘Always Improving’ but also increase our production to serve our customers at an even higher level.”
GWS has more than 100 active dealers in 21 states. Through years of welding experience, co-founder Chris Green has acquired knowledge that drives the design and fabrication of quality products used with his own cattle. The Greens’ children, Amy and Brian, have stayed close to their roots, with Brian serving as Director of Operations. Chris, Amy, and Brian work together on research and development for new products.
“Homegrown, family-owned employers like Green’s Welding and Sales are the backbone of our state’s economy,” said Michelle Hataway, Director of the Department of Economic Development. “DED is proud to support businesses like GWS as they invest in their communities, create new jobs, and help Missourians prosper.”
Hudson Industries is estimated to receive $35,462 through the Missouri Works Program, subject to verification of program requirements.
