Position Title: Executive Vice President of Entrepreneurship
Exempt Status: Non-Exempt

Reports To: Chief Operating Officer

Overview: The Greensboro Chamber of Commerce (Chamber) is the largest business organization in the Triad and serves as the principal economic and community development organization in Greensboro. We accomplish our work through four program areas: Action Greensboro, Economic Development, Launch Greensboro, and Member Engagement. There is support for these programs areas provided by Governmental Affairs, Marketing & Communications, and HR/Finance/Administration.

The Executive Vice President of Entrepreneurship manages Launch Greensboro, the entrepreneurship program area for the Chamber. This role works to expand the role of entrepreneurship in the Triad with a goal of making Greensboro a more inclusive and better place to live, work and play. Additionally, this position develops and delivers strategies, including program offerings and funding, to support entrepreneurial business development and growth.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Set and implement a clear vision and strategy for Launch Greensboro to be financially sustainable, while creating pathways for entrepreneurial success. 
  • Effectively build and lead a team to develop, manage, and achieve annual goals and operating budget.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with research and entrepreneurship programs at local colleges and universities for the purpose of (1) creating companies from technology and ideas developed by higher education and (2) bringing higher education resources as needed to local startup companies.
  • Identify new, innovative ways to engage entrepreneurs to build inclusive collaboration.
  • Provide leadership to evaluate and revise program offerings.
  • Build a diverse pool of highly qualified mentors, coaches and experts to work with entrepreneurs directly and through program offerings.
  • Maintain strong funding partner relationships.
  • Develop support strategies and offerings for growth of and funding for entrepreneurs in the region.
  • Chronicle success in a high profile manner to attract other entrepreneurs into the network.
  • Work collaboratively with the Greensboro Chamber team to help achieve the overall strategic plan. 

 

Education & Skill Requirements:

  • Minimum - Bachelor’s degree in business, entrepreneurship or a related field.
  • Preferred - Graduate degree, preferably in business, entrepreneurship or a related field.
  • Preferred – Personal entrepreneurial experience as a founder or member of the management team of a startup company.
  • History of successful collaboration with a broad range of constituencies.
  • Experience with strategic planning, fund development, advocacy, marketing, and program development
  • Ability to effectively communicate to multiple audiences and articulate goals, objectives, and results.
  • Success in building a strong team while creating a collaborative and empowering environment.
  • Solid financial acumen
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Social Media
  • Willingness to work outside of normal business hours when required for events and presentations
