Dublin-Laurens County Development Authority - President
Overview. The Chason Group, Inc. has been selected to conduct an executive search for an experienced economic development professional to lead the Dublin-Laurens County Development Authority in Georgia. Tim Chason and Randy Cardoza are working with the authority on coordinating the search.
Dublin-Laurens, Georgia. Located halfway between Atlanta and Savannah, Dublin and Laurens County have seen a tremendous amount of economic development success, including job and tax base growth, in the past ten years. The community is located on Interstate 16 approximately 2 hours 15 minutes from Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport and the same distance from the Port of Savannah on Georgia’s coast. The population of the county is nearly 48,000.
Existing Industry Base. From health care to flight control systems to national brand distribution centers, Dublin and Laurens County have over 70 existing industries that call the community home. Two of the largest employers in the area are the Carl Vinson VA Medical Center and Fairview Park Hospital. Other companies include YKK AP America, Flexsteel Industries, Parker Aerospace, CSD, Best Buy, Erdrich USA and P-D Valmiera Glass USA.
Education Systems. The community is served by two Pre-K through 12 public schools and one private school. College campuses located in Dublin include Oconee Fall Line Technical College, Georgia Military College, and Middle Georgia State University.
About the Development Authority. The authority is led by seven community leaders who are appointed by the City of Dublin Mayor and Council and Laurens County Board of Commissioners.
Position Responsibilities. The president of the authority serves as the key contact for existing industry and new business growth in the area. Working with economic development allies, including the Georgia Department of Economic Development, Georgia Power Company and Georgia EMC, the professional will market, manage, and be held accountable for the daily operations of the organization. Working with RFP and RFI documents are important components of the position.
Minimum Qualifications. Candidates for the president’s position should be a graduate of an accredited college or university with a focus on economic development, real estate, marketing, business or a related field(s). Professionals with five years of economic development experience or more will be considered for the position.
Key Attributes. Applicants for the president’s position should be experienced in the economic and / or community development field. The development authority is seeking candidates who have a proven track record of aggressive marketing, successful deal closing, and a strength of character. Communication skills in terms of listening, speaking, writing and social are extremely pertinent to the position.
