Chatham County Economic Development Corporation is searching for an energetic and dynamic President to lead the organization. This is an opportunity to bring to fruition several large-scale economic development projects already underway that will provide long-term economic benefit to Chatham County and the region.

The EDC President directs the economic development program for Chatham County including implementation of the countywide economic development strategic plan and the accomplishment of its goals and objectives. The President leads collaborative efforts to promote economic development through creative linkages of organizations and coordinated services and resources. The President plays an important role in furthering several large product development projects that will be the foundation of Chatham County’s future growth. This position reports to the EDC Board, a 501(c)3.

Chatham County, part of the Research Triangle Region, is one of the fastest growing counties in North Carolina. The region and the state are frequently ranked as best places for business in the United States. A strong quality of life attracts a diverse resident workforce and innovative companies that value strong education, recreation opportunities, and vibrant communities. A strategic location provides an avenue to the urban amenities found in nearby Chapel Hill, Durham, Raleigh, Greensboro, and other great cities.

To be considered, candidates must have five or more years’ experience in economic development including business attraction, development, and retention, product development, coalition building, infrastructure development, and fundraising. Bachelor’s degree required, master’s degree preferred, in fields of study applicable to economic development (business, planning, public administration, economics, marketing, etc.).  Certified Economic Developer or working toward credential. Demonstrated leadership skills. Excellent written communication, public speaking, and presentation skills. Proficiency in business technologies and analytical tools that support a small, fast-paced office environment. Job description available upon request. Salary range $100,000 - $140,000.
