EAST SPENCER, N.C. – The Rowan Economic Development Council (Rowan EDC) announced today that CMC, a global leader in the manufacturing, recycling, and fabrication of steel and metal products, will establish operations in East Spencer, North Carolina.   The company will locate in a facility at 1200 Rusher Farms Drive within the new Rusher Farms Commerce Center, creating new jobs over the next five years and investing $1 million in equipment.  CMC plans to begin operations at the facility in fall 2025.

CMC, which has been in business for more than a century, is internationally recognized as a leader in its industry. The new East Spencer facility will support CMC’s growth strategy while contributing to Rowan County’s expanding industrial sector.

East Spencer Mayor Barbara Mallett shared her enthusiasm for the project, saying, "As the first company to establish operations in the new Rusher Farms Commerce Center—our town’s first designated economic development area—CMC’s arrival is truly a catalyst for revival. We are thrilled to welcome CMC to our community and are confident that their presence will bring transformative benefits, fostering growth and prosperity for all."

“CMC’s decision to expand in Rowan County highlights the advantages our area offers, from a skilled workforce to a strategic location,” said Greg Edds, chairman of the Rowan County Board of Commissioners. “We look forward to building a long-term partnership with CMC as they continue to grow.”

“We are thrilled to welcome a company with CMC’s longstanding reputation and global reach to our community,” said Rod Crider, president of the Rowan EDC. “This investment not only brings high-quality jobs but also strengthens the foundation of advanced manufacturing in our region.”
