Maria Satira is an award-winning communications and marketing leader with extensive experience in community promotion, public relations, and journalism. As vice president of marketing and talent programming for Invest Greenville, she drives strategic economic development campaigns that elevate Greenville-Pitt County, North Carolina, as a top destination for business investment, talent, and quality of life. In this role, she oversees the organization's internal and external marketing as well as the Grow in Greenville sub-brand.
Before transitioning into economic development in 2020, Maria spent nearly a decade as a local morning news anchor in markets in Virginia and North Carolina. She now leverages her firsthand newsroom expertise to secure impactful earned media coverage across local, state, national, and international outlets.
She contributes to the profession through service on the ECU College of Business Advisory Board for the Department of Marketing and Supply Chain Management, the International Economic Development Council’s Emerging Trends Advisory Board, and the Southern Economic Development Council’s Communications Committee. She has also served on boards and committees for the Humane Society of Eastern Carolina, Better Business Bureau of the Carolinas, American Cancer Society, Riley’s Army, and Pitt County Arts Council at Emerge.
Originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Maria earned a Bachelor of Arts from Robert Morris University, a professional certificate in Professional Business Writing from the University of California-Berkeley Extension, and is currently pursuing a Master of Business Administration at East Carolina University. Maria and her husband live in Greenville, North Carolina with their two young daughters and two rescue dogs.
