Hampton Roads Economic Development Alliance

POSITION TITLE:         Vice President, Business Development & Customer Relationship Management (CRM) ACCOUNTABILITY:     Reports to the EVP & Chief Marketing Officer

BASIC FUNCTION:

Oversee and enhance internal outreach programs for the Alliance. Responsible for managing CRM tactics that target firms in the United States that are looking to expand and have needs Hampton Roads can satisfy. Work closely with member cities and the Alliance’s Business Intelligence department to improve tactics and targeting methodologies over time.

OVERVIEW:

This position is an important role for the Alliance and the Hampton Roads region, driving economic growth and prosperity through attracting new businesses. Working closely with the 11 localities the Alliance supports, they will develop messaging and tactics that encourage businesses to expand to Hampton Roads.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

The Vice President, Business Development is responsible for helping the Alliance’s efforts to support businesses and encourage them to relocate to Hampton Roads. The candidate should be comfortable with database marketing and using A/B testing to consistently improve and accelerate Return On Investment (ROI) on expansion efforts.

The successful candidate must demonstrate:

  • A flexible working style. This person will have CRM & Marketing savvy, as well as a welcoming presence. They will have to work well internally and with the 11 member cities. They will attend in‐person meetings with Hampton Roads
  • An ability to go “above and beyond” from time‐to‐time, representing Hampton Roads to potential companies and investors due to time constraints from the others in the Business Development department.
  • Enthusiasm while championing CRM concepts and examples of success to Alliance staff, board of directors, and

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Working closely with Alliance Marketing and Business Intelligence departments, develop customer relationship marketing and database marketing plans. Participate in Business Development
  • Serve as an owner for internal and external technology projects necessary in growing CRM. Partner with IT agencies to develop and implement a technology road map suited to support the needs of the business regarding campaign management, database analytics, business intelligence and other appropriate
  • Working with the Alliance Business Intelligence department, continuously review and recommend opportunities to enhance the quality and accuracy of the company database. Work with Business Intelligence to help with the development of database marketing analytics, such as statistical modeling, customer profiling, segmentation analysis, and other analytical techniques to improve insights. JOB QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent is required. MBA or advanced degree
  • At least 5 years’ experience in CRM and/or Database
  • Strong analytical and reasoning
  • Ability to identify and evaluate problem areas and implement effective
  • Excellent communication skills. Able to thrive in a collaborative environment, with close partnerships with Marketing, Business Intelligence, and Business Development departments of the Alliance and our 11 partner localities.
