Overview. The Chason Group, Inc. has been selected to conduct an executive search for a professional to serve as president and chief executive officer for the Development Authority of Pickens County in Jasper, Georgia. Tim Chason and Mark Lytle of The Chason Group are working with the community’s leadership to coordinate the executive search.

About the EDO. The elected and appointed leadership of the City of Jasper, Pickens County and the Pickens County Chamber of Commerce have combined forces to create a partnership for retaining and attracting investments in the community. The Development Authority of Pickens County has been in existence for several years and will be the operating body for the economic development program. The president’s position is a new initiative for the group.

About Jasper - Pickens County. Pickens County is located in the north-central area of Georgia. Jasper is the county seat. The county is part of the Atlanta-Sandy Springs-Roswell, GA Metropolitan Statistical Area. The community’s population is over 31,000 based on 2017 US Census Bureau information. Four-lane access to metro Atlanta is provided by Georgia Highway 5 which connects to Interstate 575.

Position Responsibilities. The president is responsible for pursuing commercial, industrial and tourism development projects for Jasper and Pickens  County.  This position is also accountable for oversight and administration of the community’s economic development initiatives as directed by the board of directors of the Development Authority of Pickens County. Additional key responsibilities include cultivating and maintaining an economic development strategy as well as fiscal accountability and administration of the organization. The president will serve at the pleasure of the board of directors.

Requirements. Candidates applying for the position should have a Bachelor’s degree, ideally with an MBA or other post-graduate work, from an accredited college; or equivalent experience in real estate management, business, marketing, finance, and/or economic development. Applicants should also have a minimum of three years of strategic leadership experience and new/expanding project management in the economic development field or related area(s). The professional chosen for the position should have a proven track record of growing the tax base of a community, region or state through innovative marketing and job creation strategies.
