Duties and Responsibilities of the SEDC Board of Directors
Regional Director
a. Elected from each of the three SEDC sectors as defined in Article VI of the Constitution at the last Board meeting of the annual conference.
b. Serves as a member of the Executive Committee.
c. Presides at the annual conference caucus of the respective regional State Directors to elect a successor.
d. Coordinates with the region's State Directors on membership recruitment and retention.
e. Serve as a member of the investment committee
f. May be given special assignments by the Chairman.
State Director
a. Represents his/her respective state at all regular and called meetings of the Board of Directors.
b. Is responsible for the respective state's membership.
(1) Acts as State Membership Chair.
(2) Coordinates with the SEDC membership committee in the solicitation of new members and the retention of existing members.
(3) Explains the membership application procedure to state members by correspondence and at the annual conference state caucus meetings.
c. Arranges for the state caucus at the annual conference and arrange for the election of a new Director and Alternate Director at the end of his/her terms.
d. Corresponds with the respective state's SEDC members to inform them of Council activities and to obtain suggestions and ideas for use by the SEDC Board of Directors.
e. Assists the SEDC staff in tracing delinquent members and transfers.
f. Coordinates efforts between SEDC and respective state development groups.
g. Endorses a conference site bid from a site in his/her state.
h. Accompany the new Director to the final Board Meeting of the Annual Conference for an orderly transition. However, only the outgoing Director may vote at the annual conference.
i. Participate in at least one committee.
j. Performs other duties as delegated by the Chairman, Executive Committee, or Board of Directors.
k. Promotes the Council's "Positions Open and Job Referral" service within their respective states.
Alternate Director
a. Is elected by the state caucus members at each annual conference.
b. Serves in the absence of the State Director. Attends all meetings but votes only when substituting for an elected Director.
c. Assists State Director in recruiting new members.
d. Supports and supplements all efforts of the State Director.

f. Responsible for disseminating information on legislative issues.
