The City of Sugar Land, Texas, seeks an Assistant Director for its Office of Economic Development. Sugar Land (population 84,511) is located 20 miles southwest of Houston and is an award-winning community with an established reputation for being at the forefront of development.

The Office of Economic Development is a department of the City of Sugar Land reporting directly to the City Manager. Economic Development Activities are funded by Type A and Type B economic development sales tax corporations. The Sugar Land City Council appoints the seven members of Board of Directors for both boards, who serve staggered terms.

Bachelor’s degree in business administration, public administration, urban planning, real estate development, finance, or related field required. Current CEcD, EDFP, or CCIM designations desired.  Minimum 7 years progressively responsible experience in ED field required along with 2 years supervisory experience. (Experience in banking, finance, or real estate industry alone will not satisfy the requirements.)
