REPORTS TO: Vice President of Business Development with input from Project Manager & Business Retention Manager

STRATEGIC GOAL: To support SEDA’s core mission of business development through the coordination of business attraction and retention related activities, and serving as a secondary point of contact for the business development team.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT TEAM SUPPORT
• Act as secondary point of contact for clients and existing industries during the absence of a member of the business development team. This includes gathering relevant project/client information and relaying this information to the appropriate staff contact in an expedient manner. In some cases, Coordinator will need to compile pertinent data and distribute to the client or industry directly.
• Serve as “property expert” for business development team. Manage and update SEDA’s extensive property database under the supervision of the Vice President and Project Manager. Update building and site availability on a monthly basis internally for SEDA’s website and externally with state economic development partners. Scrub property information annually for accuracy and designate featured properties quarterly.
• Maintain current and relevant documents and information for frequently submitted properties. This includes general property exhibits, environmental reports, current property flyers, etc.
• Act as SalesForce specialist for the business development team. This includes updating mailing lists for both the business attraction and business retention teams on a semi-annual basis, reconciling calendar events recorded on the business development dashboard, and pulling appropriate reports for team meetings and as requested by the business development team.
• Assist in the coordination of client and existing industry visits by securing meeting space, catering, transportation, collateral marketing materials, scheduling with community partners, and aiding team with follow up information from visits. In some cases, Coordinator may need to participate on client or existing industry visits in the absence of other business development staff.
• Provide assistance in the preparation of project information and presentations. This includes coordinating with the Research Manager on research-specific tasks to determine the best course of action for the compilation of this information.
• Monitor research tools such as iSell for news and events related to existing industries that can trigger a meeting, note, or broadened awareness of the activities of the businesses SEDA supports.
• Aid in the production of a semi-annual newsletter distributed by the business retention & expansion team. This includes gathering pertinent information, drafting and formatting articles, and disseminating to the appropriate industry list.
• Work in conjunction with SEDA partners to create a supplier directory for existing industries. This would include moderate upfront research, and minimal administrative activity once the directory was created.
• Participate in various external and internal meetings and events that require SEDA staff support and involvement. This may include SHRM meetings, Chamber functions, Lunch & Learn series, or GEDA.
• Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Self-motivated, seeks to participate in support of new projects and company retention.
• Technically savvy (ability to use online resources for research, proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, ability to learn SalesForce and other tools as required)
• Detail oriented
• Strives to learn new ways to perform tasks that improve the efficiency or outcome.
• Work with all departments within the organization to satisfy requests on behalf of the Business Development team.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills • Must understand and respect the importance of confidentiality in our industry and be able to maintain a professional demeanor while representing SEDA

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor’s degree with significant coursework in business administration, economics, marketing or public relations.
• Relevant work experience in development authority, chamber of commerce, business development or research.
• Superior recommendations from prior employer(s).
• Professional chamber or authority, marketing, research or public relations work experience preferred.
