Economic Development and Tourism Director
City of Port Lavaca, Texas

This is an exciting opportunity to live and work in a picturesque, coastal community located near the center-point of the Texas Gulf Coast, less than 30 miles from Victoria. The City of Port Lavaca, Texas, is seeking a new Economic Development and Tourism Director. Port Lavaca is home to more than 12,000 residents.


The City has 100 employees and an annual FY2014-2014 budget of $15 million. Economic Development activities were previously handled by the Calhoun County Economic Development Corporation, which has disbanded. This new Economic Development and Tourism Director position will be funded by the City and will report directly to the Finance Director. The ultimate goal for the new Director will be to forge strong relationships and create a public/private partnership to lead development activity for Port Lavaca and Calhoun County.


Bachelor’s degree required, or 4 years of work experience in a related field may be considered in lieu of degree. Must be a graduate of the Basic Economic Development Course (BEDC) and have a minimum of 2 years of experience in economic development. Proficiency in social media marketing and Microsoft Office programs required. Economic development experience in a coastal community preferred. CEcD or PCED certification or completion of EDI/IEDC courses desired.
