SEARCH FOR A PROJECT MANAGER

Under the general direction of the Executive Director, this position will utilize strong marketing, organizational, interpersonal, analytical and communication skills to provide project management support in retention and expansion of existing business and industry, as well as the solicitation and recruitment of new business and industry to Pike County Mississippi.
Must have experience in initiating and successfully completing projects generating reports; schedule preparation and follow-up; business planning and finance; and the process of applying for and monitoring federal, state and local grants and other incentives. Applicant should have knowledge and experience in marketing and economic statistics, as well as making office calls on business and industrial prospects. Applicant should be skilled in oral and written communications and presentations. Applicant should be capable of doing economic research and must be experienced in preparing complete and compelling responses to RFP, RFI and RFQ solicitations. Applicant must work in a team environment, where other team members are kept up to date on project activity on a daily basis.
A sales and marketing background is preferred, with particular emphasis on oral and written presentation skills. Applicant must be skilled in computer software, including for laptops, i pads and cell phones. One or more years experience working as a project manager in an economic development office is preferred.
The PCEDD is a division of the county government, and all employees are covered by the state insurance program and the state retirement system. In addition to the county budget allocation, the PCEDD will raise additional funds from the private sector for marketing promotions and other needs. Candidates for this Project Manager position will also have a role in fundraising. The most qualified candidates will have successful experience in both economic development and fundraising.
A college degree or community college preparation in business administration, economics, finance, accounting, planning, Law or related field is helpful, but interpersonal skills and detail-oriented problem solving experience are paramount.
CEcD is preferred, but not required; EDI training and other economic development preparation is a positive. Applicant must have a valid driver's license and passport (or be able to acquire one) and be willing to travel to call on clients and attend meetings, occasionally on weekends or holidays.
Compensation is competitive depending upon skill level and experience.
