This new position represents an exciting collaborative between the Montgomery Airport Authority, Montgomery Regional Airport, and the Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce.  The creation of this position recognizes the commitment by both the Chamber and the Montgomery Airport Authority to enhance the Montgomery Regional Airport’s capacity as a catalyst for economic growth. 

The Vice President Air Service Development is a staff position of the Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce, working in close partnership with the Montgomery Airport Authority. The Vice President Air Service Development is responsible for the development and implementation of collaborative strategies to maximize passenger air services, expand passenger usage at the Montgomery Regional Airport and manage development strategies for airport properties. The position will work as an integral part of the Chamber’s overall corporate and economic development team, supporting economic development project recruitment, retention and marketing efforts, particularly as it relates to aerospace and other targeted sectors.

Working with the Montgomery Airport Authority and its Executive Director, define  the strategic priorities for an aggressive air service initiative; establish air service development goals, to include diverse marketing and incentive strategies;  develop strategies to improve the customer experience and service at the Montgomery Regional Airport; serve as primary business liaison to airlines and other air service development stakeholders; routinely communicate to airlines, including news of new economic development in the region that positively positions Montgomery Regional Airport  to current and prospective carriers; identify market opportunities to expand air passenger service capacity as well as air cargo; represent  the Montgomery Regional Airport in work with economic development prospects; develop strategies for further utilization of land assets that support economic growth, revenue generation and/or enhanced customer/carrier services; direct the implementation of strategies to attract new airline usage, increase flights and increase revenue for both the Airport and partner airlines; lead business presentations to airline executives and at aviation trade shows;  build relationships leading to new or expanded airline partnerships; collaborate with local, state and regional commerce organizations and public sector entities; develop and recommend marketing and communication plans to fulfill air service objectives; represent the MAC partnership (Montgomery Airport Chamber) at aviation trade shows, exhibitions, and other marketing events as required; collaborate with business and civic leaders to leverage air travel within the regional business market; regularly analyze market and industry data to determine passenger demand, trends and address leakage; monitor  and periodically report performance indicators such as departures, fares, seats, and customer satisfaction; educate the travel industry, media, and other entities about the amenities of the Montgomery Regional Airport.

Minimum Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Economics, Marketing/Public Relations, Aviation Management or other related field.  Six years of progressively responsible aviation experience at another comparable airport, or related economic development experience preferred.  The ideal candidate will possess the most desirable combination of training, skills and experience in developing and implementing economic development and air service strategies, including preparing and presenting persuasive clear technical information and concepts, both orally and in writing, to diverse groups and airline executives; ability to organize and manage several projects of high complexity at the same time; experience in executing short-term and long-term marketing plans; demonstrated working knowledge of organizational management principles; use word processing, presentation, spreadsheet, and database software similar to those found in the Microsoft Office Suite with proficiency .

Salary range commensurate with experience; qualified candidates should submit a prior work history and salary requirements. 
Ability to physically perform the duties and to work in the environmental conditions required of a position in this class.
