There are numerous committees in need of volunteers that can match individual expertise and goals. We encourage you to find a committee that meets your professional goals. Joining a committee might be the first step in doing something outside your comfort zone and learning a new skill. SEDC is about helping members accomplish goals and committee work can provide that opportunity.

·        Perhaps your professional development goals include writing a published article or maybe you are an expert at social media and can share your knowledge with the rest of us trying to decipher  between a tweet and hashtag. If you answered yes to either of these questions then the Marketing and Communications committee may be for you!

·        The Membership committee works with SEDC staff to ensure we are providing the members  with benefits that they need to become outstanding professionals. They also assist with recruitment and retention efforts, reminding members about renewals and reaching out to potential members through recruitment campaigns.

·        Are you passionate about legislative affairs and the state of the industry as it pertains to the government? If you want to make sure SEDC is staying on top of these issues and help get the word out to our members, then consider joining the Legislative Affairs committee.

·        The Education Committee is seeking volunteers who want to know “what’s next” in the economic development industry as well as those who are looking to provide the best possible learning opportunities and methods for members. This committee needs members who want to participate in the process of information sharing SEDC works to provide the best possible learning and engagement opportunities to members.

·        If you enjoy strategic planning and long-term development for SEDC’s sustainable and prosperous future, consider participating in the Finance & Administration Committee. This committee help strengthen the association’s balance sheet to create reserves that enables future capital investments.

“As a volunteer for SEDC, I have the opportunity to give back my time to an organization that has guided my education in the profession. The chance to align myself with professionals who have more experience in the industry provides a solid foundation as I advance in my career.”

-        Larkin Simpson Past Chair, Membership Committee
