Dublin-Laurens County Development Authority
The Dublin-Laurens County Development Authority (DLCDA) is the economic development arm for Laurens County, the City of Dublin, and the municipalities located in Laurens County. The Authority is responsible for the Recruitment and Retention of business and industry in Dublin and Laurens County, Georgia. The DLCDA serves a population of ~50,000 in a middle Georgia region of 300,000 in a 30-mile radius. The DLCDA has been tremendously successful with the location of manufacturing, distribution, and infrastructure projects and looks to improve upon the successes in the County.
The Authority is looking for an energetic, results-oriented President to:
Report directly to the Board of Directors.
A successful candidate will be responsible for:
All aspects of the Development Authority and its goal to create jobs for Laurens County
Manage and Implement all Industrial Recruitment activities undertaken by the organization
Manage and Implement a comprehensive Business and Retention Program designed to aide our local industries in expansion and job creation. The organization has a Manager of Business and Industry which will report directly to the President and is primarily responsible for this area with the Presidentâ€™s Supervision.
Responsible for all budget preparation, implementation, and reconciliation for accountability
o Annual operating budgets ranging from $600,000 to $800,000
o Oversee the maintenance and investment of funds for the DLCDA
Funds are received from the City of Dublin, Laurens County Board of Commissioners, and Authority related activities that must be managed to maintain a consistent and stable budget.
Responsible for all interaction between local governments including the Dublin City Council, 6 additional town councils, and the Laurens County Board of Commissioners.
Responsible for all grant writing activities on a local, regional, State, and Federal level for the Authority
Lead all Marketing activities for the Authority
Oversee Site and Building Maintenance, acquisition, leasing, and sales
Negotiate, write, analyze, and implement all financial incentives in our recruitment process
Employee and Volunteer Management
Workforce Development on an as needed basis to improve our attractiveness to industry and to help them meet their needs along with our local and state partners
Developing relationships with local business and industry.
Provide quality assistance and support to entrepreneurs and existing business and industry.
Establish an outreach program to proactively work with the small business and entrepreneurial communities to address their needs.
Identify and resolve issues that inhibit the growth and expansion of existing industry.
Other duties required on an as needed basis
The President will also represent or be part of the group that represents DLCDA to local business leaders, local elected officials, and local, state and regional economic development organizations or related organizations. The nature of our business requires the President to maintain the confidentiality of our prospects and the information they provide at all times.
- Bachelorâ€™s Degree in business, marketing, public policy or a related field.
- Professional Certifications a plus
- 5 years Economic Development or relevant experience, Masters a plus.
- A record of Success in Economic Development Projects
- Proven ability to work in a high paced, professional work environment with the ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
- Successful management experience.
- Motivated self-starter with a team attitude.
- Outstanding oral and communication skills.
- Computer experience with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and necessary Economic Development software.
- Ability to travel outside the area.
- Represent DLCDA to the business community, local, regional, state and national economic development partners in a professional manner.
