2010 Janus Forum Scholarship
A “Young Professional” under the age of 35 that is!  If you are, then SEDC would like to know if you’d be interested in joining this special shared interest group we are establishing.   Our intent will be to offer activities and programs specially designed to meet professional development needs of this group.  And, one special opportunity available to this group is SEDC’s upcoming Young Professionals Forum, August 30- September 1, 2010. This special forum will allow a great opportunity for SEDC’s young professionalsto network and identify professional development issues unique to this group.

The SEDC “YP” Forum will run simultaneously with the Janus Forum with most sessions being held separately.  The theme of the 2010 Janus Economics Forum is “Tomorrow’s Best Practices: The Economic Development Profession, Communities and Change.”

The Janus Forum was created in 2009 by the consulting firm of Janus Economics.  Its primary purpose was to bring together a small group of leading economic development practitioners from around the US to examine the state of the economic development profession, explore trends, and examine issues related to its future.  Working to insure the seamless transition of the profession from older practitioners to YPs and New Millennium oriented professionals is a key component of this initiative.

The Young professionals Forum will be limited to 10 attendees and scholarships will be made available to all 10 through the SEDC Educational Foundation.   To find out more about the forum and to complete the scholarship application, please click on the link below.  Deadline for applications will be June 11, 2010.
